Romania-Bulgaria gas connection to become functional in June, later than estimated
The gas interconnector between Romania and Bulgaria is expected to become operational in June, according to the Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Energy Dragomir Stoynev.
The initial deadline for completion was June 2013.
Speaking on Wednesday (March 26) at a conference on natural gas, the Bulgarian minister said that the gas interconnector with Romania was delayed by some technical problems, reads a statement published on the Ministry’s website.
“This gas connection is expected to be under operation in June,” he said.
In early-January, gas transmission operator Bulgartransgaz announced that “the interconnection Bulgaria - Romania will be commissioned in the first quarter of 2014 and the foreseen date for running into commercial operation will be by the end of March 2014”.
Later, Romania’s Transgaz said that the deadline for the gas connection is mid-April.
