Romania sees fastest growth in car registrations of all EU markets
Passenger car registrations increased by 43% in Romania in May, the fastest increase in the European Union (EU), according to statistics from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association – ACEA.
Over 11,500 new passenger cars were registered in Romania in May, up from 8,062 units in the same month of last year.
In the first five months of the year, passenger car registrations in Romania reached 47,800 units, up 29% year-on-year, which is also the highest growth rate in the EU. Passenger car registrations in the EU increased by 0.8% in May and by 2.4% in the first five months.
Romanian car brand Dacia recorded a 14.1% increase in registrations on all EU markets in May, to 53,000 units, and reached a market share of 3.8%, up from 3.4% in May 2017. In the first five months of this year, Dacia’s registrations in EU went up by 17.4%, to 225,861 units.
