Romania collects over EUR 160 mln from car tax in 2013
Romania collected last year some RON 733 million (EUR 166 million) from the car tax, known as the environmental stamp tax, according to local Agerpres.
Of this amount, some RON 570 million (almost EUR 130 million) were refunds for the old car tax to those who obtained a final court decision in this matter.
This year, the estimations show revenues of up to RON 800 million (some EUR 180 million) from the environmental stamp tax, according to Adrian Gearap, president of the Environmental Fund Administration AFM, quoted by Agerpres.
The new car tax entered into force in March last year and is calculated based on the level of CO2 emissions.
