Romania uses EU funds to create 250 hectares of new beaches

18 June 2018

Some 2.5 million sqm (250 hectares) of new beaches will be available for tourists visiting the Romanian Black Sea coast by 2020, according to the minister of waters and forests, Ioan Danes quoted by Agerpres.

The new beaches will be created within a EUR 752 million project to reduce coastal erosion. Most of the money for this project will come from the European Union and the minister expects the financing contracts to be signed in December 2018. The project will be implemented in two stages starting January 2019 and September 2019.

“After finalizing this project, we will have 100 kilometers of sand highway, which tourists will be able to use,” Danes said.
