Romania exports electricity to three neighbors in 2013
Romania has again become a net electricity exporter in 2013, after having to import electricity in 2012, a year affected by drought. Romanians used 5 percent less energy in 2013, and the country managed to sell its surplus electricity abroad.
Romania exported 4.7 TWh of electricity in 2013, or 8.5 percent of the total national consumption. The country imported just 2.7 TWh, or 4.8 percent of the total consumption, according to data from The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E), quoted by Ziarul Financiar.
Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary were the main buyers for Romanian electricity in 2013.
