Romania faces new wave of blizzards and ice
Romania has been placed under a Code Yellow for snow, blizzards and ice until Sunday, February 5. It started to snow on Thursday morning in the South of the country, while meteorologists expect conditions to worsen across Romania over the coming days. In excess of 20 cm is expected in hilly and mountainous areas.
Southern areas of Romania will experience a mixture of rain and ice on Saturday morning (February 4). The country is already under an Orange Code for low temperatures, covering 37 counties. Minimum temperatures will stay between minus 27°C and minus 17°C, while the maximum temperatures will stay below zero.
Traffic on the A2 highway was closed on Thursday morning ( February 2 ), while several national roads have also been closed in the country.
