Romania was the fastest growing market last year for Central European Media Enterprises (CME), a regional media group that also operates in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, and Bulgaria.

The group’s revenues in Romania went up by 10% compared to 2015, reaching USD 173 million. Excluding currency variations, the revenues went up by 11.3%, which is double the group’s overall growth rate of 5.4%, according to CME’s annual financial results.

CME’s total net revenues reached USD 638 million in 2016. Romania is the group’s second-biggest market after Czech Republic.

CME owns PRO TV, the biggest TV station in Romania in terms of revenues and audience.

The group’s operational profit before depreciation, amortization, and impairments on assets (OIBDA) in Romania went up by over 50% in 2016, reaching USD 62 million. The group’s total OIBDA went up by 22%, to USD 150 million.
