Romania, first in Europe at the International Physics Olympiad

Romanian students got five medals, two of which gold, and the first place in Europe at the 2015 International Physics Olympiad. Romania ranked 10th in the world with two gold medals, two silvers and one bronze.

Tudor Cretu and Stefan Eniceicu, both 11 grade students at the International Informatics College in Bucharest, got the gold medals. They also returned with medals in 2014.

Stefan Eniceicu also got the European Physics Society’s special prize for the best score of a European student in the theoretical test (29.8 points out of a maximum 30).

Cristian Alexandru Frunza (12th grade) and Razvan Radu (10th grade) got the silver medals, and Ileana Rugina (12th grade) got the bronze.

The 46th International Physics Olympiad took place in Mumbai, India, between July 4 and July 12, and gathered 190 competitors from 48 countries.
