Romania’s Fiscal Code sees record number of amendments this year
Romania’s Fiscal Code has seen 261 amendments this year, while the EU average amounts to 50, according to the National Council for Small and Medium-Sized Companies (CNIPMMR).
“The average discussion period with social partners and stakeholders before modifying the legislation with an impact on the economic environment is three years (in the EU – e.n.). In Romania, we have reached an unprecedented record of zero days,” CNIPMMR president Florin Jianu said.
The amendments to the Fiscal Code haven’t respected the rules of legislative technique or fiscal and social dialogue principles, according to CNIPMMR.
“The 261 changes have affected the confidence of small and medium-sized companies in the tax system,” Jianu added. One of the most important factors influencing investment decisions is predictability, he explained.
