Romania gets EUR 500 mln from EC to continue 11 projects
The European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu approved the continuation of 11 projects in several regions of Romania, with funding from the European Union worth over EUR 500 million, according to a press release from the European Commission Representation in Romania.
The projects are in key areas such as transport, natural disaster prevention, water supply and integrated waste management.
The EC’s decision allows to continue projects which began in the 2007-2013 period but were not completed in time. Romania thus lost some of the EU funds allotted for these projects in the previous budgeting period.
These are “essential projects for Romania's development and for improving the citizens’ quality of life,” said Corina Cretu.
The transport projects include the construction of the Lugoj — Deva highway on the Dumbrava — Deva sector. They also include the rehabilitation of the railway line between Coslariu and Simeria, part of the Pan - European IV corridor.
The list also includes several integrated waste management projects.
