Romania’s Gopo 2022 winners: Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn wins best film trophy, Cristi Puiu is best director
Radu Jude's Babardeală cu bucluc sau porno balamuc/Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn, the winner of the Golden Bear at last year's Berlin International Film Festival, won the Best Feature Film trophy at this year's Gopo Awards, which reward the Romanian film industry. Meanwhile, Cristi Puiu won the Best Director trophy for Malmkrog.
Katia Pascariu won the Best Actress award for her role in Radu Jude's film, while Cătălin Cristuţiu got the Best Editing trophy for the same movie. The Best Actor award went to Bogdan Farcaş for the role played in Bogdan George Apetri's Neidentificat/Unidentified.
Alexandru Potocean received the Best Supporting Actor trophy for the role in Câmp de maci/Poppy Field, while Ioana Flora was named Best Supporting Actress for her role in Otto Barbarul/Otto the Barbarian.
Poppy Field, directed by Eugen Jebeleanu, won the Best Debut award, while the Best Screenplay trophy went to Unidentified.
Cristi Puiu's Malmkrog also received the trophies for Best Cinematography (Tudor Vladimir Panduru), Best Costume Design (Oana Păunescu), Best Production Design (Cristina Barbu), and Best Hair and Make-up (Dana Roşeanu, Elena Tudor and Manuela Tudor).
România Sălbatică/Wild Romania, Dan Dinu and Cosmin Dumitrache’s documentary exploring the country’s nature and wildlife, also received several trophies at the 2022 Gopo Awards: Best Documentary, Best Original Music Score (Alexei Ţurcan), and Best Sound (Dan Ştefan Rucăreanu, Ioan Filip and Matei Vasilache).
