Romania has 4.8 mln employees and most of them work in the private sector
Romania had 4.8 million employees at the end of 2013, with over 23,000 people more than in 2012, according to recent data from the National Statistics Institute INS.
The number of employees registered increases in most of the country’s regions, the North-West posting the highest growth of 13,800 people.
At the end of 2013, the number of employees in private companies represented the majority – over 73% and increased by 1.4% compared to the previous year.
Last year, the average number of workers was of 4.44 million, slightly up from the year before. Men predominate among employees, representing 53.1% of the total average workforce.
The average cost of labor was of RON 2,813 (EUR 637) per employee in 2013, up 5.2% from the previous year.
