Romania's Govt. to pay holiday vouchers to private sector employees in 2024-2026
Romania's Senate adopted a draft bill providing that from 2024 until 2026, employees in the private sector will be given holiday vouchers worth RON 1,450 (EUR 300), just like some categories of employees in the budgetary sector currently receive, B1TV reported.
The Chamber of Deputies will give the final vote.
The vouchers will be financed from the state budget, specifically will be an expenditure deductible from income taxes paid by each employee, according to the bill passed by the senators.
The methodology for the payment of the amounts will be established by the Government within a maximum of 30 days from the promulgation of the law by the President of Romania.
"In Romania, the labour taxation of 40.85% is the highest in the European Union, where an average of 26% to 27% is recorded. High taxation also entails a low degree of collection," according to the memorandum attached by the bill's authors.
