Theodor Aman (1831-1891) was a Romanian painter of Armenian descent. A contemporary to Nicolae Grigorescu in the 19th century, Aman was the founder of the first school of belles artes in Romania at Iași and Bucharest.

He studied in Paris and was influenced by the Italian Renaissance masters. Aman is known for his paintings of historic scenes, as well as for his landscape paintings of the Câmpulung-Muscel area, where he was born.

Among his most famous paintings are Michael the Brave's last night (Cea din urmă noapte a lui Mihai Viteazul), The Battle of Oltenița (Bătălia de la Oltenița), The Princedoms' Union (Unirea Principatelor) and Tudor Vladimirescu.
