Romania is Hungary’s second-biggest export market
Romania represents the second-biggest export market for Hungary, said the Hungarian Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Szijjarto.
Given that the two countries’ economies are so intertwined, Bucharest and Budapest can’t afford not to be strategic political partners, he added, reports local Economica.net. The lack of a strategic partnership between the two countries is contrary to the interest of the two states.
Starting 2019, Romania and Hungary will inter-connect their natural gas networks. This will represent an important step for the two countries’ energy security, Szijjarto said.
The Foreign Minister also mentioned that Eximbank Hungary opened a EUR 370 million credit line that is available for the Romanian and Hungarian companies to build up their economic relationships.
Hungary has also opened six economic offices in Transylvania to promote the cooperation between Romanian and Hungarian small and medium enterprises.
