Romania ranks last in Europe for the use of mobile banking.

Less than a fifth of Romanians used last year mobile devices to carry out payments, whereas the European average is close to 40%, according to a study by lender ING.

The use of mobile banking services dropped in Romania last year to 17% from 23% in 2013.

Turkey ranked first in Europe for the use of mobile banking, with 56% of the population, followed by the Netherlands with 50%.

At a European level, 38% of the respondents said that they used mobile devices to carry out payments and other transactions, slightly up compared to 37% in 2013.
