Romania launches housing program for public clerks
Romania’s Government launched yesterday a housing program for employees in ministries, county councils, city halls, and other public institutions.
Government representatives said that it hasn’t been decided yet how many homes would be built. The number will be established based on requests from local authorities.
The Government is ready to pay EUR 285 million for 8,500 homes built by 2021. Of the total number, 6,500 need to be completed until then. The work can be initiated starting this year, with a budget of over EUR 2 million.
The homes will be built on public property. The apartments will have an average size of 81 sqm, with a price of EUR 500 per sqm.
The National Agency for Housing will receive requests from public institutions. The homes will be given to employees who haven’t owned an apartment before.
