Romania’s Prognosis Commission lowers industrial production growth estimate

Romania’s National Prognosis Commission (CNP) has revised downwards by 1.3 percentage points its growth estimate for the local industrial production this year.

CNP estimates a growth of 3.7% in the industrial production in 2016. In 2017 and 2019, the industrial production may grow by 5.2%, according to the CNP prognosis. In 2018, the growth will reach 5.4%.

The manufacturing industry will see the biggest increase this year, namely 4.2%. It will be followed by the production and supply of thermal and electrical energy, with an increase of 1.4%.

Romania’s industrial production contracted by 0.5% in the first two months of this year compared to the same period of 2015, according to official data released by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
