Romania, fifth lowest employment rate among women in the EU
Romania recorded the fifth lowest employment rate among women in the EU in 2013, of 56.2%.
The 9.1% men vs. women pay gap places Romania among the first ten EU countries with the lowest gender pay gap.
Women represented 44% of Romania’s labour market in 2013 and occupied 32% of the total management positions, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat.
Women also represented 61% of the workers in services and sales.
By comparison, the employment rate among Romanian men amounted to 71.6% in 2013.
Greece had the lowest employment rate among women in the EU, with 43.3%, whereas Sweden had the highest employment rate among women, with 77.2%.
