Romania marks Earth Hour with several events this Saturday

27 March 2015

Romania will again turn off the lights for one hour this year, marking the Earth Hour movement organized throughout the world. Lights will go off on Saturday, March 28, between 20:30 and 21:30 local time.

Events will be organized in several cities across Romania, celebrating this specific hour when people choose to use fewer resources.

In Bucharest, events will be organized in Herastrau and Izvor parks.

In Herastrau park, located in the northern part of the capital, the events start at 19:30. People can make some stretching with trainers from Limitless and Hearth Hour Ambassador Zoli Toth, according to information published on ora-pamantului.ro. Music, candles and free bikes will also be part of that evening’s program.

Bike enthusiasts can also meet at 20:15 in Izvor Park in Bucharest and go from there to Herastrau Park in a tour organized by Adevarații VeloPrieteni and Skirt Bike. More info here.

Other major cities in Romania will organize events on Saturday evening.

A biking event, a cross and a show with lights will be organized in Bistrita, the Earth Hour Capital in 2012. Timisoara, the 2013 Earth hour Capital, will mark the event with a music event in Victoriei Square, while last year’s Earth Hour Capital, Satu Mare, will organize childhood games, creation workshops and biking events.

Other Romanian cities that will turn off the lights and join the movement on March 28 are: Adjud, Aiud, Alba-Iulia, Baia Mare, Botosani, Braila, Buzau, Calafat, Calan, Calarasi, Cluj, Constanta, Craiova, Focsani, Giurgiu, Hunedoara, Medias, Moinesti, Oradea, Panciu, Piatra Neamt, Ploiesti, Ramnicu-Valcea, Roman, Rosiorii de Vede, Salonta, Sighisoara, Slatina, Targu-Jiu, Tulcea, Turda, Vaslui, Vatra Dornei and Zalau.

For most of them, public lightning will too go off during the Earth Hour event.
