Romania has 2.5 million users on the Facebook social network, with around 300,000 of them residing in Bucharest, according to a recent study by Facebrands.ro. Cluj- Napoca, Timisoara and Constanta come next in the top of Facebook users in Romania.

Facebrands.ro was launched last year by communication agency Standout and web developer Byte Flux. The service monitors the Facebook pages of users from Romania. It currently monitors 5,000 Facebook pages created by companies, musicians, NGOs and ranks them based on the number of fans. It also show the evolution of the fan base for Romanian brands.

Update: The most popular Romanian brands on Facebook are singer Inna, with 2 million fans, singer Edward Maya, with 209,000 fans, followed by music band Akcent, with around 203,000 fans as well. Radio stations Radio Zu and Kiss Fm follow, with 179,000 and 150,000 fans respectively.

Facebook has more than 500 million active users in the world and half of them log in every day.
