Romania recorded in 2014 a surplus in goods and services trade, brought on by the rapid growth in IT and business service exports.

IT employees in Romania are exempt from income tax, which makes the IT sector extremely competitive, according to a study by professional services company TMF Group.

The business environment for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is strengthening in several countries from Central Europe, especially the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia.

In Romania, the big enterprises have been the main growth factor in industry and services, as the small business sector, which was massively affected by the economic crisis from 2008-2009, has recovered slower.
