Romania organized the first edition of its new Fiscal Lottery on the second day of Easter. Fiscal authorities in the country hope to decrease the weight of the black economy, and incentivize people to ask for fiscal receipts whenever buying something.

The draw on Monday, April 13, decided the winning receipts: all receipts with values between RON 6 and 6.99 issued on February 7, 2015. Several people have already appeared in the local media proving they have winning fiscal receipts, and chances are the prize will be split among many people, given the small amount on the bill.

The total prize stands at RON 1 million, which will be divided among all those who have receipts that fit into the winning category.

The fiscal authorities plan to organize such draws every month from July, on the first Sunday after the 15th of that month, for receipts issued in the previous months. The first special edition of the lottery covered the period February 2- March 28.

To take part in the lottery, one only had to hold on to all the receipts received during this interval. The winners only have to show the winning receipt and their IDs by May 13 the latest, at any ANAF fiscal unit, together with a filled in request. Prizes will be paid within 60 days.
