10 March 2011

Romania is last in the European Union by the waste recycling rate, Environment Minister Lazlo Borbely said Thursday, adding that the Ministry will allot EUR 1.2 billion until 2015 to improve this situation.  The money will be spent on an integrated waste management system, said the minister. The recycling market would create over 200,000 jobs and generate income of more than EUR 1 billion.   The first step toward this objective will be installing two powerful incinerators, in Bucharest and Brasov, said Borbely.
