Romania posts EU’s largest construction sector drop

Romania registered the largest decrease in construction in July, compared to the same month in 2013, of 19.7%, according to data from Eurostat. The second largest drop was reported by Portugal – down 8.8%, followed by Slovakia – down 6.1%.

In the euro area, production in the construction area increased by 0.4%, while in the EU28 the increase was of 0.6%. In July 2014 compared to the previous month, the seasonally adjusted production in the construction sector stayed stable in both the euro area and in EU28.
