Romania produces 7% of EU’s bikes
Romania produced about 900,000 bikes last year, similar to 2015, but double compared to 2008 or 2009. This accounted for about 7% of the total bike production in the EU, reports local Ziarul Financiar.
The local market was also among the top producers of bike components, ranking second after Italy. Romania had a share of 17% on this segment, while Italy had a 27% market share.
Local producers manufactured EUR 300 million bike components last year.
Many of the bikes produced in Romania are sold to sports retailers such as Decathlon or Intersport. Some of the products return to stores in Romania.
