Romania rolls out basic company tax information SMS system
A new service offering information about Romanian companies via text messages recently became operational. The service, offered by Romania's tax agency ANAF, allows anyone to ask for information about a company by sending a text message to 1300, with the fiscal identification number of a certain company. The service is currently available for Vodafone and Orange mobile telephony users and it will be extended to other networks. The charge per text message is established by each carrier and ANAF does not earn anything from the tariff.
The system will send back a text message with the name of the company, whether it is registered for VAT purposes, whether it is fiscally active, and whether it applies VAT upon cashing. The same information can be found online on anaf.ro – in Romanian.
The project was developed by ANAF together with the Special Telecommunication Service STS and became active on Tuesday, April 30.
