Romania scores great victory against Russia at European Women’s Handball Championship
Romania beat Olympic champions Russia in the second group match at the European Women’s Handball Championship with the categorical score of 22-17.
Romania’s young goalkeeper Denisa Dedu was the match MVP, after she managed to save 22 of the 39 shots the Russians sent towards her goal. Thanks to her great saves, in the first 15 minutes of the match, the Russians only scored 2 goals.
Romanian star Cristina Neagu also did a good match and was the team’s top scorer.
Romania, which is managed by Spaniard Ambros Martin, thus managed to make a spectacular comeback after losing their first group match against world champions Norway (21-23). They will play against Croatia in the last group match, on December 9, and have a good chance of going forward in the next group stage and fight for the medals.
