Romania sets up National Company for Road Investments
Romania’s Government has decided to reorganize the National Highways Company (CNADNR), which has been involved in a lot of scandals, and set up the National Company for Road Investments.
The new institution will manage several important infrastructure projects starting next year. These include the modernization of Bucharest’s southern ring road as well as the construction of the Sibiu-Pitesti, Targu Mures-Targu Neamt-Iasi-Ungheni highways.
The new company will have an initial share capital of RON 50 million (EUR 11.2 million), fully subscribed by the state, which will be only shareholder. It will operate under the Transport Ministry.
The staff will be hired only through competition. The pay scale will allow the general director to have a gross monthly salary of around EUR 8,200.
The former CNADNR will only be in charge with managing Romania’s road infrastructure. It will be in charge of maintenance and repairs on highways and national roads.
