Last year, 177 Romanians had net assets of minimum USD 30 million each. These people are called ultra-high net worth individuals (UHNWI), or simply super-rich.

The rich group included five more people compared to 2013 and 116 more than in 2004, according to the latest Wealth Report compiled by real estate consultancy group Knight Frank.

By 2024, some 120 more Romanians will join the list, which will get close to 300 super-rich people.

Romania is home to 48 people with fortunes of over USD 100 million (centa-millionaires), one more than in 2013, and two billionaires.

In the next decade, Romania will have 32 more with wealth above USD 100 million and one more billionaire, according to the report.

Europe is home to over 60,500 people with personal wealth above USD 30 million. Some 1,800 people advanced to this wealth group in the last year. Over the next ten years, the number of super-rich in Europe will top 75,000.

Worldwide there were 172,800 UHNWI, 5,000 more than in 2013. By 2024, their number will increase to over 230,000.

The number of billionaires is also expected to grow to almost 2,600, in 2024, from 1,844 in 2014.
