Romania starts tender procedure for much-awaited highway project
Romania’s road infrastructure management company - CNAIR published on April 19 two intention announcements for the design and execution of two sections of the Sibiu-Pitesti highway.
The two sections have a total length of almost 70 kilometers. They include a 1.7-kilometer tunnel and several other special structures, as they pass through the mountains. These are also likely the most expensive sections of the highway and the most difficult to build.
CNAIR hasn’t indicated any price range for these sections.
The Sibiu-Pitesti highway would be the first highway in Romania to cross the mountains. It would connect the Constanta-Bucharest-Pitesti highways to the Sibiu-Deva-Arad highways, thus ensuring providing a direct connection to Western Europe.
