Romania, three other EU countries, responsible for agricultural frauds
Romania, together with three other European countries, are responsible for 71% of the frauds with EU agricultural funds, according to a report of the European Commission based on data from 2014.
The European Parliament will debate the report this week, reports local Economica.net. The other three countries are Hungary, Italy, and Poland.
The rural development sector saw most fraudulent irregularities. The number of frauds rose four times in 2014 compared to the previous year.
In 2014, the total irregularities reported in EU member states in managing the funds for agriculture, including both fraudulent and non-fraudulent ones, generated financial losses of about EUR 3.2 billion, up by 36% compared to 2013.
