Romania to dish out EUR 2.4 bln for revamping 140 km of railway on Curtici-Simeria route
The rehabilitation of two railway segments on the route Curtici-Simeria in Romania, with a total length of 144 km, will cost RON 10.9 billion (some EUR 2.4 billion). From this total, the costs of construction and installation works are estimated at RON 9.2 billion (over EUR 2 billion).
The works will be financed with non-reimbursable funds from the European Commission, through the Cohesion Fund, and money from the state budget, through the ministry of Transport.
The costs are presented in a Government Decision draft developed by the Ministry of Transport for approving the technical-economic indicators for the rehabilitation project of the Border - Curtici - Simeria railway.
The two sections, namely section 2 (km 614 – Gurasada) and section 3 (Gurasada - Simeria), cross Arad and Hunedoara counties.
The project’s duration is 36 months.
