Romania to get EUR 7.2 bln from the EU for road and rail infrastructure, says Transport Minister
Romania will receive funds of EUR 7.2 billion from the European Union by 2020, for road and rail infrastructure, Transport Minister Ion Rus said at local TV station Realitatea TV, reports local Agerpres.
He added that by 2015, Romania will receive 1.2 billion from the EU. Another EUR 300 million will be added to this amount as co-financing from the state budget.
For 2014, expenditure for highways, from the budget and from EU funds, are of EUR 600 million.
According to him, the modernization work at the railway from Arad to Brasov and Predeal will be completed somewhere in 2016-2017, reports Agerpres.
The Targu Mures-Oradea highway is expected to be completed by end-2016, while a highway linking Bucharest and Bors will be ready by 2018, according to the Minister’s estimations.
