Romania wants to buy 12 other American F-16 fighter airplanes, according to an acquisition project from the Ministry of Defence, which will be presented to the Government during the next period, reports local Capital.ro.

Six fighting airplanes, that are part of the first squadron, have already been modernized, and the Romanian pilots have begun flight preparations.

"A multiannual program has to prepare the acquisition of a second squadron, for Romania to realize its capacity negotiated with the NATO in 2004 on fighter aircraft," said the Defence Minister Mircea Dusa.
