Romania’s U21 football team qualifies for EURO for the first time in 20 years

Romania’s Under-21 national football team qualified on Tuesday, October 16, for next June's UEFA European Under-21 Championship (U21 EURO), after defeating Liechtenstein 4-0.

Romania U21 thus managed to qualify for the European Championship for the first time since 1998, when it hosted the final stage and ended on the last place (eighth).

The 2019 U21 EURO will be organized in Italy and San Marino between June 16 and June 30. Nine teams won their qualifying groups to join co-hosts Italy in next year's UEFA European Under-21 Championship, while Austria, Greece, Poland and Portugal go into next month's play-offs for the remaining berths.

The ten qualified teams are Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Germany (holders), Italy (hosts), Romania, Serbia, and Spain.
