Romania wants to continue issuing bonds for population
The Romanian state wants to continue issuing bonds to the population, said yesterday Stefan Nanu, director of the Treasury in the Ministry of Public Finance.
“We will continue what was a great success last year, retail bonds through the stock exchange,” he said, reports local Agerpres.
He added that the demand coming from retail has more potential, because the savings rate has increased and bank deposits can’t really satisfy investors’ expectations financially.
“We plan to start liabilities management, probably in the second part of the year. We'll use all the central bank as agent, so we will carry out buyback and switches," said Stefan Nanu.
To improve the government securities market, the Ministry is discussing with market players, such as pension funds, investment funds, and primary dealers, and trying to accommodate their request.
