Romania wants to be first to go after deepwater gas in Black Sea
Romania plans to carry out the first project for deepwater gas exploration and exploitation in the Black Sea, said the Energy Minister Victor Grigorescu.
“We don’t yet have an optimal legal framework for this project, although we are pioneers in this sector. For Romania it’s important not only that we are the first to do this, but also the first to develop a solid infrastructure,” he added, reports local Agerpres.
Romania is an important stability pole in the region, the minister also said. He added that Romania should have an important role in shaping the European Union’s energy policies, not just follow them.
“We should talk about what we want from Europe’s energy policy.”
The future EU energy policies should allow the member states to opt for their own energy mix, the minister said.
