Romania wants to reduce VAT for tap water
The Romanian Government will support an amendment to reduce the VAT from 24% to 9% on water for domestic consumption.
It estimated the budget impact at below EUR 100 million, reports local Mediafax.
The Government has already issued an Emergency Ordinance to cut the VAT on food and non-alcoholic beverages from 24% to 9% starting June.
One week earlier, the ruling Social Democrat Party has discussed reducing the VAT for domestic use water, below the 5 cubic meters monthly threshold use.
