Romanian actress from 'If I want to whistle I whistle' chosen for Shooting Stars European film program
Romanian actress Ada Condeescu was selected for the Shooting Stars program, which will take place between February 9 and 11 at the International Berlin Film Festival. She is one of the ten European actors selected for the 2013 edition of this program, which in the past helped actors such as Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz on their way.
Condeescu, 24, who played the leading female role in 'If I want to whistle, I whistle' and 'Loverboy', will be the fifth Romanian actor nominated in this program, after Ana Ularu last year, Dragos Bucur in 2009, Anamaria Marinca in 2008 and Maria Popistaşu in 2007. “In Loverboy Ada Condeescu gives an impressive performance: sensual, loving and convincing. The camera loves her without falling into vulgarity or voyeurism,” was the jury's comment about the Romanian actress.
Shooting Stars puts a spotlight on Europe's best young actors, and will be at its 16th edition in 2013. Ten prominent young actors from across Europe are chosen by a jury of experts, out of a short list of 27 names submitted by European Film Promotion members. European Film Promotion organizes the Shooting Stars program.
“The Shooting Stars of 2013 will attend a three-day program of events during the Berlinale that includes one-on-one interviews with international Casting Directors, various presentations to the world’s film industry, a press conference, photo-shoots and a workshop. The program culminates in a glitzy awards ceremony where each of young talent will be honored by the Berlinale with the Shooting Stars Award on the main festival stage,” according to the organizers.
