Romanian anticorruption prosecutors detain businessman, public clerk
Romanian businessman George Mois and Ioan Mircea Ardelean, the former head of Satu Mare Public Finance Administration, were detained yesterday, December 15, by Romanian anticorruption prosecutors, reports local Mediafax.
The businessman’s company allegedly renovated the house belonging to Ardelean’s daughter, on its own expense. In return, Ardelean helped Mois get a VAT refund of some RON 770,000 (EUR 173,000).
Prosecutors accuse Ardelean of taking bribes, while Mois is charged with giving bribes. They are both to be presented to the Bihor Court with a preventive arrest proposal.
