Romanian Art Theater Bucharest to open new venue this week

The independent Art Theater Bucharest (TAB) will now have a home and Bucharest a new theater venue with the opening this weekend of a theater on Sfantul Stefan Street.  The theater will open on December 8  and five days of celebration will follow at the new 75-seat venue.

The Art Theater Bucharest is to host five days of shows and music, in which the theater group itself and other companies will perform. There will also be concerts by Nicu Alifantis, Lily and the White Tiger and Byron.

The program includes Emigreişăn Drim, a Romanian comedy, Contraste, an innovative combination of pantomime, dance and theater, Monoloagele Vecinului (The Neighbor Monologues), a one-man show,  and Un barbat si mai multe femei (A man and several women).

Theater manager and actor George Constantinescu headed the initiative to open the new venue and the theater company comprises young actors and directors hired from state theaters or as freelancers, such a Paula Chirila, Ovidiu Niculescu, Marin Grigore, Bogdan Husanu, Ion Bechet. Directors and actors Oana Pellea, Nae Caranfil, Mihai Ionescu and Vitalie Bantas also supported the project.
