Romanian authorities delay the health card obligation for the sixth time
The health card should have become mandatory in Romania starting August 1, but the authorities have decided to postpone the deadline for the sixth time because tens of thousands of people haven’t received it yet.
The card will probably become mandatory starting September, said Vasile Ciurchea, president of the National Health Insurance House (CNAS).
The initial deadline for the health card implementation was February 1, this year. It was then moved to April 1, and then to May 1. Ciurchea then announced that the card would be mandatory starting the end of June.
The CNAS had invested over EUR 22 million in this IT project. When the system will be fully implemented, all the consultations and medical interventions in Romania that are financed with state money should be made based on this card.
