Romanian band of the week: Aria Urbana

26 September 2011

This week's discovery is a mix of electronic, trip-hop, dub and drum & bass from a four-member band canned Aria Urbana. The band caught our attention with its psychedelic, 'makes-you-want-to-move' sound and the meaningful lyrics. After listening to their debut album, Urbanofonica, it was rather hard to pick juts one song and feature it. We would mention 'Flori Carnivore' (which is partially in English) 'Revolutie Spirituala' (The Spiritual Revolution), 'Sistem de Propagande' for their strong beat, but we would recommend other songs on their album – 'Atacul metaforei', 'Doruri', 'Daca Vrei', 'Certitudine'. You can listen to the full album here, where you can also buy it.

Aria Urbana is a band made of Toni Samson– voice, Dani (Daniel Rusu)– bass, Sikorsky - guitar, Dermon – instrumental / percussion. They have played for the last eight years on the underground scene in Bucharest and if you want to listen to them live, they have scheduled a concert in Club A this Wednesday, September 28, from 23 hours (entry ticket RON 10).

Their music (even if in Romanian) speaks better, so listen to some of their songs below.
