Romanian biggest appliance producer changes CEO
Arctic, the biggest appliance producer in Romania, part of Turkish group Arcelik, has named Nihat Bayız as its new General Manager to lead the company starting September 2016.
Nihat Bayız has been part of the Arçelik Group for 22 years assuming leadership positions in R&D, product, factory management and prior to his current role, he was acting as the head of Product Management for Arcelik Group since 2012.
He will be taking the helm from Hasan Ali Yardimci who was promoted to President of Beko USA Inc., which is also part of Arçelik Group.
Yardimci started his mandate in October 2014, replacing Romanian Monica Iavorschi. During his two-year mandate, he managed to grow Arctic’s local market share in major domestic appliances to a record level of 40%, while enhancing revenues and profitability significantly.
Arctic also continued to increase exports of cooling products and announced a new investment project and successfully applied for a state aid for building a large scale greenfield washing machine plant in Dambovița county.
Arctic is one of the leading companies in Romania, with over 3.000 employees and a turnover of EUR 351 million in 2015. Exports represent over 75% of the company turnover and the refrigerators produced at Gaesti are sold in markets such as Turkey, Poland, Spain, France, Germany, and South Africa.
