Romanian bricks producer Cemacon ups turnover in first nine months
Romanian bricks producer Cemacon increased its gross turnover by 37% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2014, to some EUR 11.4 million, on increased productivity and reduced costs, according to the company.
The Romanian producer registered a net profit of some EUR 846,000 between January and September. Its operating income increased by 37% compared to the same period the previous year and exceeded the dynamics of the operating costs, leading to an improvement in operating profitability – plus 57%.
“An important step in the short term strategy is reopening the production line in Zalau, a perhaps unthinkable decision on a market where there is a large surplus of offer. The production capacity for the Evoceramic bricks will increase by 26%. Thus, Cemacon becomes the second largest producer of ceramic blocks in Romania and the largest in the Transylvania region,” said Liviu Stoleru, general manager and board president at Cermacon.
The company’s brick factory at Recea worked at full capacity this year. Given the high demand of Evoceramic products and the fact that the factory reached its maximum capacity, Cermacon decided to expand the production capacity in early-2015 and to carry modernization and revamping works at the production line within the old factory in Zalau.
For the entire year, the company plans to up its turnover by 31% compared to the previous year, to increase the operating profit by 28% and to reach a national market share of 18%.
