Romanian business lawyers leave top firm to launch their own practice
Miruna Suciu, one of the top business lawyers in Romania, left the local law firm Musat & Asociatii in February to launch her own practice. Suciu has worked with Musat & Asociatii for over 16 years and was a Partner in the firm.
Three other of the firm’s Partners, Luminita Popa, Madelina Berechet, and Cleopatra Leahu, left the firm together with a team of 16 lawyers.
The 20 lawyers will be working under a new brand and new concept: Suciu, Popa & Asociatii, Miruna Suciu announced. She will be the Managing Partner of the new practice.
Miruna Suciu is one of the top local lawyers specialized in Energy & Natural Resources, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Capital Markets.
She has provided legal assistance in several big transactions, such as the initial public offering (IPO) of the largest local electricity distributor Electrica, in July 2014. Suciu and her team at Musat & Asociatii advised the underwriting syndicate mad of Raiffeisen Capital & Investment, BRD, Société Générale, Citigroup and Swiss Capital in conducting the EUR 440 million IPO on the Bucharest Stock Exchange and London Stock Exchange.
Musat & Asociatii was founded in 1990 by Gheorghe Musat and has become one of the top business law firms in Romania, working mostly with international investors. The firm is now managed by Mona Musat, the founder’s daughter.
The firm recently promoted two new partners and recruited 15 new lawyers to compensate for the team that left the firm.
Throughout the years, several partners and groups of lawyers have left Musat & Asociatii to launch their own practices. Some of these new law firms also became market leaders, such as Tuca Zbarcea & Asociatii, Popovici Nitu Stoica & Asociatii, and others.
