Romanian Central Bank keeps rate at 6.25%, sees FX reserves slightly up
The Romanian Central Bank (BNR) has decided to keep the key interest rate at 6.25 percent, similarly to the last six months. BNR cut the rate from 6.5 percent to 6.25 percent in May this year. In December last year, the key policy rate was of 8 percent and was gradually decreased throughout 2010.
The National Bank of Romania's foreign exchange reserves stood at EUR 32,8 billion at the end of November this year, slightly up on the EUR 32,3 billion on October 31st 2010. The gold stock has held steady at 103.7 tonnes. However, following the change in the international price of gold, its value amounted to EUR 3.5 billion.
