New online game teaches Romanian children how to react in emergency situations
Romania's General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) has launched an online game that teaches children how to react in emergency situations such as fire, flood, storms, or earthquakes.
The official launch was hosted by the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca, which is part of the consortium that conducted this project, along with the Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) in Germany, Austrian Red Cross, and IGSU.
The game, called Be heroes like Andrei and Rex! - Rex & Andrei versus dr. Formidabilis teaches children, in an interactive manner, the importance of first aid, but also how important is to comply with the fire prevention measures and to respond promptly in cases of emergency.
The game has five levels and its characters are a boy called Andrei and his dog Rex. In the game, Andrei has to get through various emergency situations, such as fire, flood, earthquake, home accidents, and first aid.
The project was done with funds received within the Raising Young People’s Awareness on Preparedness and Self-protection – YAPS program approved by the European Commission, which has a value of over EUR 1 million.
The game is available on IGSU’s website.
