Romanian cinema party draws high attendance during Berlin Film Festival
Over 400 people from the international film industry joined the Romanian party in Berlin this week. Producers, distributors, financiers, festival directors and journalists partied at the Roter Salon in Berlin, where they danced on Romanian tunes and drank Romanian wines and the traditional 'palinca' alcoholic beverage, according to the Association for Romanian Film Promotion. The party was part of the Berlin International Festival, ongoing in the German capital until February 19.
Guests included Christian J. Lemche, president of the European Film Promotion, Ondřej Zach, VP, Programming & Acquisitions HBO Central Europe, Nadia Dresti, Head of Industry Office Locarno Film Festival, actors Hilmar Gudjónsson, Bill Skarskard, Jakub Gierszał, Anna Maria Mühe and Adele Haenel. The Romanian side was completed by local actors Ioana Flora, Ana Ularu, Monica Bîrlădeanu, Mihaela Sîrbu, directors Radu Jude, Lucian Georgescu, Bobby Păunescu, Gabriel Dorobanţu and former tennis player Ilie Năstase.
Romania was part of the Berlin Film festival for the fifth year in a row. Romanian director Radu Jude's latest film, ‘Everybody in our family,’ was selected in the Forum section of the Berlin International Festival and was screened in worldwide premiere at the 62nd edition of the festival. Another Romanian film, “Diaz - Don't Clean Up This Blood”, by Daniele Vicari, starring Monica Barladeanu and Ana Ularu, was presented in the Panorama Dokumente section.
